Healthy Home Rating System (HHRS) Training, April 15-16, 2013

Ohio Lead and Healthy Homes Conference, April 17-18, 2013

Location: Hyatt Regency Columbus, 350 North High Street, Columbus, Ohio 43215

The Healthy Home Rating System (HHRS) training is being held on April 15-16, 2013. This two-day, in-person course covers the fundamentals of the HHRS. The HHRS system was developed to assess housing related health and safety hazards. The rating of hazards assists in determining the most important hazards to address in a home. Through the training, participants will understand the inspection requirements of the HHRS; understand how to link deficiencies with health hazards; know how to determine likelihood and spread of harm scores; and know how to calculate a hazard score and determine the hazard band. The intended audience for the HHRS training is environmental health professionals; housing code inspectors; licensed home inspectors, health and housing advocates; property managers; affordable housing property managers; and others who go into homes for the purpose of improving the health and safety of the occupants. Registration is limited to 50 participants with priority being given to Ohio HUD grantees.

The 2013 Ohio Lead and Healthy Homes Conference will have sessions that cover a variety of topics, such as lead, radon, asbestos, asthma and bed bugs. The conference's target audience is public health professionals, housing professionals, medical professionals, people working in weatherization, home visitors, educators, researchers, advocates and community members involved with environmental health, healthy homes and community environments.

The fee for HUD's Healthy Home Rating System Training is $75. The registration fee for the conference is $50. If attending the training and conference, the combined registration fee is $100. Please fill out the attached registration form and mail it to the Ohio Department of Health (address is listed at the bottom of the registration form). If you are interested in being a conference exhibitor there is a separate registration form and the fee is $100 (includes conference registration for one person).
