About Greater Cincinnati NARI
The National Association of the Remodeling Industry (NARI), Greater Cincinnati Chapter, is a not-for-profit trade association dedicated exclusively to serving the professional remodeling industry and to serve as an ally to area homeowners.
NARI is the only independent association dedicated solely to the remodeling industry. NARI certification of professional remodeling contractors serves as the association’s recognition of remodeling professionals who have met advanced criteria for experience and pledged a commitment to high standards of practice and NARI’s Code of Ethics.
President Roosevelt's National Recovery Act of 1935 established the North East Roofing, Siding and Insulation Contractors Association (NERSICA). By the mid-1960s, NERSICA no longer reflected the membership of the growing industry and its name was changed to the National Remodelers Association (NRA).
In 1956, President Eisenhower established Operation Home Improvement, a nationwide effort emphasizing the rehabilitation of existing housing rather than new construction. The National Home Improvement Council (N.H.I.C) emerged from this effort. The first chapter of the N.H.I.C. was located in Cleveland. The industry continued to grow and in 1982, the National Remodelers Association and the National Home Improvement Council joined to establish the National Association of the Remodeling Industry (NARI).
NARI was established as a "not for profit" trade association committed exclusively to the service of the professional remodeling industry, networking with industry peers, manufacturers, financial institutions and other craftsmen.
Today, Greater Cincinnati NARI is recognized as an authority in the remodeling industry to ensure ethical conduct and sound business practices while being a resource to local homeowners. NARI also recognizes outstanding members through a national awards program as well as a local awards program for exceptional workmanship. Local and national newsletters keep members up-to-date on new trends and products and informs them of activities of the association. There are 47 NARI chapters nationwide. The national office is located in suburban Chicago, Illinois.
