Thanks to our members and guests for yet another successful Membership Meeting. Greener Stock graciously hosted and sponsored the evening of networking and education at their facility on February 17, 2011.  Attendees were given valuable information on a variety of Greener Building Practices from local area experts

Thursday, March 24, 2011 6:00 p.m. - 9:00 p.m.

Marsh Building Products and Marsh Window & Door Classics invite Ohio Valley NARI members, their guests and prospective members to join us at their Loveland location for an evening of education, food and drink as well as door prizes.

With a focus on their fiberglass-pultrusion Ultrex, the latest generation of composite building materials, Marsh will present information about their new Apex Ultrex siding and their Integrity All-Ultrex windows and doors.  Apex siding, the only fiberglass-pultrusion siding in the industry, is lightweight and eliminates issues of water absorption and thermal expansion associated with other composite siding and trim products.

Also included will be information and discussions regarding performance, installation, finishing and maintenance of these products, including a hands-on demonstration of an Apex siding installation.

Let's learn together about the application and performance of the latest generation of building materials NARI members will use to lead our industry in the future.

Join us and your friends for food, drink and door prizes on Thursday, March 24, 2010 at 6:00 p.m. at Marsh Building Products, 10078 East Kemper Road, Loveland, Ohio.  Cost to attend is nominal at $10.00 per person or $20.00 entire crew.

Cincinnati Home and Garden Show

A quick note of thanks for all who were able to donate their valuable time to help support Ohio Valley NARI during this year's Home & Garden Show held at the Duke Energy Center. The NARI Educational Seminars were huge hit. Some of the programs were actually standing room only!
Here is the schedule of programs presented...sincere thanks to all who "took the stage."

We will also be participating this October 8-10 at the Greater Cincinnati Kitchen, Bath and Remodeling Show. Try to plan now to support your chapter in October!

JobSite Mailing Services

We recently met with Glen Hauser, Director of Sales and Marketing for Jobsite Mailing, LLC. Jobsite Mailing LLC is an associate member of NARI National and provides their services to members throughout the U.S. They offer a 10% discount to all NARI members who utilize their services for each order placed (see NARI National website's National Suppliers listing). They have shown an interest in working with our Chapter and have extended an
additional 5% discount to each of our members who take advantage of their program.

As the name implies, JobSite Mailing specializes in radius mailings around current and past jobsite neighborhoods. You choose one of their contractor-themed stationeries, write you own personalized letter (they have copy you can use), choose your jobsite neighborhoods, and it's done! There is even the option of adding your own color jobsite photos to each mailer.

They have mailed out to all members packages explaining their programs with samples and order forms including our special discounted rate.  You should be receiving them shortly.

Beside radius mailings, they can also provide your company with monthly mailings targeting New Homebuyers, target demographics (e.g. Home value, income levels, age of home, etc ... ), or mail to your own client lists. You can also use their unique contractor stationeries for bulk mailings as well.

There is also the option to print your own custom company designed stationery.

Should you have any questions when you receive their package, please feel free to call their offices at (877) 465-NARI (6274).

We look forward to continuing this partnership with JobSite Mailing, LLC and hope you will consider using their services.

Sustainable Community Initiative Opens Networks

By Morgan Zenner

The road toward true success is often a long and challenging one, according to Chaden Halfhill, president of Silent Rivers Inc. based in Clive, Iowa (see
"How I built my business," Remodelers Journal August/September 2009). For the last six years, he has been growing his development company called Indigo Dawn to jump-start a new, sustainable remodeling initiative called Green & Main. The initiative focuses on renovation of historical properties in the community with a concentration on increasing energy efficiency and longevity.

Remodeling makes Springtime a Little Greener

Green is more than a color; it's a building philosophy. For Peter Michelson, CEO of Renewal Design-Build of Decatur, Ga., building green is also the way he helps his clients live healthier, eco-conscious lifestyles, save money on utility bills and make the world a greener place.

"Green homes incorporate sustainable materials and design ideas aimed at protecting the environment by promoting energy conservation," Michelson said. "The more you are doing to your house, the more of an opportunity you have to replace inefficient equipment with high-efficiency equipment and materials."
